Business Drivers E-mail

If you are responsible for business drivers - whether you're running a fleet of vehicles, or just managing a few people in your office who drive as part of their job - you have a legal duty of care towards your employees.

The Health and Safety at Work Act applies to on-the-road work activities in the same way as to all work activities, and the risks should be effectively managed within a health and safety management system.

The Dorset Safety Camera Partnership is able to work with you to help ensure your employees always drive safely and within the law. We have put together an information pack to help you understand the legal responsibilities that employers have towards their staff and provide advice on the procedures you need to put in place within your company.

The materials will not cost you anything and could help you prevent speeding rather than exposing your business to prosecution.

The pack includes:

  • Fleet manager leaflet - helping you understand the issues regarding the duty of care you have towards your employees
  • Fact sheet - providing details about employers' responsibilities and what you need to do in order to manage the health and safety of your business drivers
  • Leaflet for employees - highlighting the importance of safer driving and why they need to take responsibility for their driving
  • Drivers' Log template - helping you to meet your legal obligation in putting in place measures to identify who is driving company vehicles
  • Poster - keeping safer driving front of mind for your employees
