Drink Driving – Can you handle the consequences?
Dorset Police will be increasing patrols and road-side checks on the roads of Dorset throughout June as part of the summer drink and drug driving campaign. As we all look forward to long summer evenings with a drink in a beer garden or at a friend’s barbeque, we urge you to remember that even a small amount of alcohol can impair your driving ability and ask – can you handle the consequences?

Don't be the last person she ever sees
This campaign is aimed at encouraging drivers to pay full attention to everything going on around them. The idea behind the poster is that it only takes a second for concentration to be broken and a child or adult to be killed or seriously injured.

Don’t let it end here
This primary target of this campaign is younger drivers. The use of feet in a morgue is designed to be distressing but not shocking. The tag shows that this could in fact be anyone, including your best friend.

Switch off before you drive off
This campaign was produced along with our partners and its main aim is to raise awareness of the dangers of driving whilst using a mobile phone. There are many unknown facts surrounding this issue, such as it is illegal to operate a mobile device when teaching a learner driver to drive. It is also not only the telephone call or text that affects your ability to concentrate but it has been proven that for up to 10 minutes after talking/texting you are still thinking about what was discussed. Dying to Drive
Young drivers, pedestrians or cyclists should be aware of the risks and dangers involved with road use and distraction. Dorset Safety Camera Partnership provides education for younger drivers. We provide an hour long presentation (Dying to Drive) which covers warnings on how to drive safely and what can happen during an accident. It is presented by our staff and people from the organisations we work in partnership with.

Parents on the Run
We all know that young children are impressionable and usually try to copy their parents. With this in mind, DSCP developed a leaflet aimed at parents on the school run. This leaflet seeks to help parents educate their child from an early age on the dangers of road use and how to keep them safe by teaching them the green cross code. Please download this leaflet or contact our communications and marketing team for more information.
