^{Chideock Westbound Safety Camera}

^{A Crown Court judgement has found that the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO), which defined a length of the A35 in Chideock, West Dorset, as subject to a 30mph speed limit, was defective between 1997 and 2007 due to a historical clerical error that it mistakenly referred to ‘Seatown Road’ and not ‘Duck Street’.}

^{Unfortunately, as a result of this clerical error in the TRO, the speed limit was not able to be enforced at that point on the A35 between 1997 and 2007.}

^{A process has now been established and will run from mid July 2009 for dealing with alleged speeding offences detected by the safety camera monitoring westbound (towards Exeter) traffic on this stretch of road during this period.}

^{It is important to note that no one has suggested that the speed limit here should be anything other than 30mph. Drivers are reminded that the speed limit in Chideock is 30mph and the defective Traffic Regulation Order was replaced on the 13th November 2007.}

^{If you have accepted a Fixed Penalty as a result of being detected exceeding the speed limit travelling westbound (towards Exeter) on the A35 in Chideock, the following information outlines what you need to do if you wish to request a refund of the fixed penalty fine for this offence and the removal of related penalty points from your driving licence (if still valid).}

^{If your speeding offence is affected, you should receive a letter from the Dorset Safety Camera Partnership by the end of November 2009.}

^{However, if you do not receive a letter by that time and wish to request a refund of the fixed penalty fine and the removal of penalty points from your driving licence, please download the form from the link below and send it to us along with your driving licence* (you should take a photocopy for your records prior to sending your licence).}

^{*Please be aware that the Dorset Safety Camera Partnership and our partners cannot accept responsibility for your licence in the post. You are advised to take any necessary steps to ensure that your licence arrives at the DSCP offices.}

^{Your driving licence will be forwarded to the DVLA for amendment:}

•  ^{If you have a Photo Card Licence, send your Photo Card Licence and paper counterpart with the form}
• ^{If you have a paper Licence, please send just this with the form. You should be aware, that the DVLA no longer issue paper licences and upon receipt of your paper Licence, you will be invited to apply for a Photo Card Licence. A D1 application form and INF1D information leaflet will be sent to you for completion. This should then be returned to the DVLA along with original identity documents confirming your identity. A new licence will be issued free of charge. The DVLA will not be able to return your paper Licence back to you.}
