Yes - vehicle speeds are monitored during all phases of the traffic lights. The safety camera will activate for stop line offences while the RED signal is illuminated and for speed offences while the GREEN or AMBER signals are illuminated and vehicles are travelling in excess of the speed limit for the road.
Drivers are reminded that the RED AND AMBER signal means ‘Stop’ and vehicles should not pass the line or start until GREEN shows. AMBER also means ‘Stop’ at the stop line. You may only proceed if the AMBER signal appears after you have crossed the stop line or unless it is unsafe to stop. Failure to STOP may result in prosecution.
